A woman who is believed to have died after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs in Greece has been named as Celia Hollingworth.

The retired Bristol University lecturer, 62, from Bradford in Avon in Wiltshire, was reported missing on Thursday.

She had made a phone call to her family to say she had been attacked by stray dogs after working back from a visit to the Mesimvria archaeological site near Petrota Beach.

She had been staying at a guest house in the nearby town of Maroneia.

It’s estimated more than a million stray dogs are in Greece, many of which have been abandoned by owners.
