British Travel Awards announces new dates

Wednesday, 13 Mar, 2021 0

The British Travel Awards announced it will resume again in the summer of 2022.

In a change to the usual timeline, it is giving the voting consumer time to finally resume their holiday travels and gives the travel industry time to recover from the disruption caused by the pandemic.

Travel companies will be able to put themselves forward across the various awards categories between 1 December 2021 and 28 February 2022.

This will allow companies to look back at the holidays and travel experiences they have been able to provide for their customers from 17 May 2021 right through until into the ski and winter sun holiday period of 2021/22.

The consumer voting period takes place between 5 March and 15 May 2022.

Hopefully, with overseas holidays allowed again from 17 May, this will give nearly a full year of holiday experiences to be voted on.

As always, voters will be asked to consider the levels of customer service they have received from the travel industry, whether that is at the time of booking, re-booking, information updates, in-resort or post-booking customer service

It can cover everything across all aspects of their holiday experience.

Consumer voting will again be promoted in conjunction with consumer media partner Reach PLC across their national, regional and digital platforms.

The British Travel Awards Gala Event to announce the 2021 / 22 winners will take place in early summer of 2022.

British Travel Awards CEO Lorraine Barnes Burton said: "It’s time to look to the future of travel with positivity and I think the revised BTA timeline is very sensible.  I personally am very excited about holding a summer event, it will bring a very different dynamic and we have some brilliant ideas already to ensure the evening will be action packed with entertainment, fun and the face-to-face networking we have all missed."

"In the meantime, good luck to our travel industry colleagues in the months ahead, we hope business gets back to normal for you very soon."

The British Travel Awards is the largest awards programme in the UK and was created to reward the best companies in travel.

The British Travel Awards’ categories span  a wide range of holiday experiences, from transport, destination, cruise, customer service, holiday extras, and accommodation.
