British Virgin Islands to restart inbound tourism in December

The British Virgin Islands said it will reopen borders to international visitors on 1 December.

BVI Premier Andrew Fahie says it will be ready to welcome tourists, as he unveiled the ‘BVILOVE’ tourism campaign.

It marks Phase 3 of its reopening process.

Phase 2 began on 1 September with work permit holders, retirees, property owners; and students allowed back.

"Every country that reopened to tourists and travellers alike faced their own challenges with the coronavirus. However, we can be very optimistic because we are vigorously preparing for our reopening to welcome back tourists," Fahie said.

"We have two full months to prepare and we must get it right."

The government will hold meetings with all tourism players including hoteliers, villa owners, restaurateurs, airlines and taxi operators to get new health protocols up and running and working efficiently.

"All boards, agencies and sectors of government, the private sector and the public will be engaged so that no one will be left out, and get further input because we are in this together," Fahie added.
