Brittany Ferries sees sharp rise in passengers with four legs
Brittany Ferries has reported a huge jump in the number of four-legged travellers on its ferries over the last five years.
Last year 91,289 dogs and cats travelled in pet-friendly cabins and kennels on routes to Spain, and in cars on shorter journeys to France.
This was 40,000 more than travelled with the ferry operator five years previously.
In 2018, Brittany Ferries expects to carry more than 100,000 pets.
It has added 10 more pet-friendly cabins to cruise-ferry Baie de Seine and with the April launch of Connemara it will be able to accommodate a record number of pet travellers in 2018.
Additionally, the arrival of brand new ferry Honfleur in June 2019 will add 12 pet-friendly cabins to the company’s Portsmouth to Caen route.
