John Sorci and Cecily Joseph, Symantec, and David Jerome, IHG, accept 2009 NBTA CSR awards
The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) is now accepting applications for the 2nd Annual NBTA Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards.
The NBTA CSR Awards recognize innovative and significant corporate social responsibility initiatives implemented in 2009 by companies that follow the mission and objectives of the NBTA CSR Committee. The 2010 NBTA CSR Awards will be presented at the 2010 NBTA International Convention & Exposition — the Business Travel Event of the Year – to be held August 8-11, 2010, in Houston, TX.
The NBTA CSR Committee has adjusted the application and selection process this year to make the criteria more rigorous, bestow the awards even greater prestige, and keep the selection process in line with the evolving CSR landscape.
Applicants will answer questions on their companies’ activities related to:
- Duty of care for business travelers
- Measurement and reduction of travel-related carbon emissions
- Carbon trade-offs
- Social programs in the community and for employees
All NBTA member buyer (direct) or supplier (allied) companies may apply for consideration, and the awards will be made to one Direct and one Allied company with acknowledgement to the member and any other individuals directly related to the initiative. The deadline for application submissions is April 19, 2010.
The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) and its regional affiliates – NBTA Australia/New Zealand, the Brazilian Business Travel Association (ABGEV), NBTA Canada, NBTA Europe, NBTA Mexico, and NBTA USA – operate a network of more than 17,000 business travel professionals around the globe with industry-leading events, networking, education & professional development, research, news & information, and advocacy.
NBTA members, numbering more than 5,000 in 30 nations, are corporate and government travel and meetings managers, as well as travel service providers. They collectively manage and direct more than US$340 billion of global business travel and meetings expenditures annually on behalf of more than 13 million business travelers within their organizations.
