Calls for airport booze ban to curb unruly passenger incidents
Democrat lawmaker Peter DeFazio has called for airports to stop selling alcohol before passengers fly, and wants tougher penalties for unruly passengers. At a congressional hearing he called for more criminal prosecutions.
"Get a great big to-go cup with four shots in it and take it on the airplane — that needs to end," he said. Criminal prosecutions are still very rare despite airlines banning thousands of passengers over unruly conduct.
