Can the Travel Industry survive without the travel agent?

Hi, I am doing a university dissertion on the above topic and would like to hear people views on the subject. My view is that no it wouldn’t. Too many people rely on the travel agent for advice and expert knowledge in which the internet can not give. Please share your views thanks Victoria
