Canada mandates vaccinations for domestic travel
All travelers 12 years or older in Canada are required to be fully vaccinated by the end of November in order to travel by air or rail.
It is part of wide-ranging measures mandating vaccinations for hundreds of thousands of federal workers.
The vaccine requirement for travel covers domestic services but the government will introduce a vaccine passport program for international travel within a few weeks.
A negative Covid test is sufficient until November 30 when only full vaccination status is permissible for domestic travel.
The new rules "ensure a minority of people cannot sabotage Canada’s economic recovery and cannot allow the fourth wave or other variants to cause real problems for us all," said Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland.
"When it comes to keeping you and your family safe, when it comes to avoiding lockdowns for everyone, this is no time for half measures," Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters.
