Tourism industry professionals and academics will come together for Canada’s inaugural “Crisis Management in Hospitality & Tourism: Getting Prepared” conference set for 29 September to 2 October.
The conference is jointly organised by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada and the University of Quelph (Toronto) and will be held at the Renaissance Toronto Airport Hotel. Speakers will be coming from several countries and will deal with the broad spectrum of security and crisis management issues as they affect the entire tourism industry.
The TIAC – University of Guelph conference is expected to encompass a wide range of areas and should be relevant to travel agents, hoteliers, attractions, restaurateurs, and regional and national tourist offices, among others.
The appeal is expected to be beyond Canada.
Major speakers include Australian travel and tourism crisis and security specialist, Dr David Beirman; Randy Williams President and CEO Tourism Industry Association of Canada; Dr Peter Tarlow, a Texas based and globally recognised tourism security expert; Bob Lesser, Director General of Public Safety, Canada; Tony Pollard. President, Hotel Association of Canada; and Jeff Hamblin, former CEO British Tourist Authority/Visit Britain.
