A Canadian was named as one of 14 killed during terror attacks on Sunday at a historic attraction in Jordan.
Retired teacher Linda Vatcher, 62, was killed and her son was also shot after gunmen targeted the 12th century Karak Castle, a popular tourist attraction.
At least 34 people were reportedly wounded.
The attack began when gunmen ambushed Jordanian police, killing seven along with two Jordanian civilians.
Four gunmen were also reportedly killed.
A large cache weapons was recovered but authorities gave no specific details about reports the attackers had earlier taken hostages and were holed up inside part of the castle.
"The Government of Canada stands ready to assist Jordan in bringing the perpetrators of this heinous attack to justice," said Global Affairs spokesman John Babcock.
The Canadian embassy in Amman is ‘actively working with local authorities to gather additional information and provide consular assistance at this difficult time,’ he added,
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack which appears to have taken place at three separate locations in the area.
Karak Castle is about 70 miles south of capital Amman and is a popular stop on the tourist route between Amman and Petra.
