Canadians booking car trips across border to avoid quarantine
Savvy Canadians returning home from vacation are sneaking back into the country by car over land borders to avoid a mandatory quarantine for air travelers.
Scores of Canadians are flying into US airports close to the border and taking a car service to drive them across. Some are renting limos while others are simply going across on foot.
The three-day quarantine can cost about $2,000. Since the hotel quarantine rules came into effect an estimated 20,000 have come across the border this way.
