Capita chief elected to GTMC council
Capita Business Travel managing director Simone Buckley has been elected to the executive council of the Guild of Travel Management Companies.
The council of the GTMC is made up of 12 elected members drawn from the membership and is responsible for the overall policy and strategy of the guild based on advice and information fed through to it by each of its six working parties covering hotels, air, surface transport, human resources, technology and membership.
Buckley was previously UK sales director at Carlson Wagonlit Travel and head of marketing, EMEA at Rosenbluth International.
She joined Capita as managing director of Lonsdale Travel last October, which she relaunched as Capita Business Travel in February.
GTMC chief executive Philip Carlisle said: “Simone has extensive experience in business travel management, across a wide range of companies. Her background will ensure that the executive council has representation that covers the guild’s entire membership, which will in turn help the executive council immensely as we shape the agenda for business travel management in the years to come.”
Buckley said: “Joining the council means that I can be involved at a greater depth in the changes that help shape our future – and in so doing I can give back to an industry that has served me so well for the last 20 years.”
