The NSW Tourism Award winning Supershow is recognsied as one of the best leisure events in NSW, attracting around 90,000 visitors each year to the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, Parramatta.
A winning submission in the significant festivals and events category involves satisfying the criteria of creating substantial economic impact within the local community; attracting visitors from intrastate and/or interstate; generating a regional media profile; and positively promoting the destination.
As the overall NSW Tourism Award winner, the Supershow was acknowledged for a commitment to each of these criteria.
“This is a momentous occasion for the CCIA and a significant achievement for the industry. The Supershow is a showcase of recreational vehicles to provide the means for people to tour the country and also displays an array of tourism destinations and operators to heighten interest in regional locations. We are overwhelmed that the Supershow has won this award and is recognised for its contribution to tourism in NSW,” said Barry Baillie, CEO, Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW (CCIA).
In the competitive ‘media’ category, the NSW Caravan & Camping, Holiday & Touring Guide received an Award of Distinction which is also a significant milestone for the CCIA, Barry adding, “We are proud of the NSW Caravan & Camping, Holiday & Touring Guide and the value that travellers receive from the publication, with the Guide providing extensive information on holiday parks, dealers and manufacturers across the State and incorporates comprehensive regional maps to promote regional tourism”.
The CCIA thanked both Sylvia Franklin for her tireless organisation of the Supershow and Carol Sonter for her coordination of the NSW Caravan & Camping, Holiday & Touring Guide, Barry saying, “Sylvia Franklin and Carol Sonter have been instrumental in ensuring the success of the Supershow and The Guide and they are valuable representatives of the CCIA deserving thanks for their efforts to represent the caravan and camping industry.”
