Carlisle gets long-awaited passenger flights

The first commercial flights in more than 25 years will be launched from Carlisle Lake District Airport later this year.

Loganair will start flights to and from London Southend, Belfast City and Dublin from July 4.

The routes are now on sale and cost from £39.99 to Belfast and from £44.99 to Dublin and London Southend.

Jonathan Hinkles, managing director of Loganair, said: "These air services will significantly benefit the overall Carlisle and Borderlands region, attracting thousands of tourists and enhancing connectivity for those wishing to do business at both ends of the routes."

Services will operate five days a week on 33 -seat Saab 340B aircraft.
