Carlson Wagonlit has acquired the business travel division of Austrian travel agent Raiffeisen Reisen for an undisclosed sum.

President and chief executive Hubert Joly said the deal gives Carlson a stronger foothold in the Austrian market and continues then group’s strategy of profitable growth.

“In addition to sustained organic growth we’ve demonstrated our ability to successfully integrate acquisitions,” he said. “Our success, coupled with the industry’s mandate for economies of scale is encouraging us to continue in the same direction.”

Raiffeisen Reisen managing director Fred Wellenhofer said the sale will allow the company to focus on its core leisure business.
