Carnival Corp agrees two new Bahamas port developments
Carnival Corp has given the Bahamas a timely boost after agreeing contracts with the government for two port developments.
It will develop a new $100 million cruise port destination on Grand Bahama for the Carnival Cruise Line brand.
Carnival also agreed to an expansion on Little San Salvador island, which includes a new pier for Holland America Line’s ships going to Half Moon Cay.
The Little San Salvador development will cost about $80 million, and both facilities will be able to handle Carnival Corp’s largest ships.
"These developments and the significant investment are such a boon for our initiatives for national prosperity and economic stability," said Bahamas PM Hubert Minnis.
Work is scheduled to begin on both by mid-2020 after environmental impact assessments are completed.
