Carnival Corporation has named Roger Chen as chairman in China.
Based in Shanghai, Chen will lead government relations and port development in the region, as well as supporting joint venture activities in China.
"Roger comes to us with over 25 years of experience working for major global companies that have significant operations in China, as well as time spent working within the Chinese government, all of which will be invaluable to our growth strategy in China and Asia as a whole," said Alan Buckelew, Shanghai based chief operations officer for Carnival Corporation.
"We look forward to Roger’s leadership and deep knowledge of government affairs as he oversees Carnival Corporation’s strategic initiatives across all our brands in China."
Chen has led strategic business operations in China for several major multinational firms including General Electric, Microsoft, Volvo Group and Alcatel.
Most recently he served as China president for Volvo Group.
Carnival is in the middle of a major expansion in the china market with the Costa and Princess cruise brands each adding a ship to their fleets during 2016.
Carnival will become the first global cruise company with six vessels based in China later this year.
