Carnival Spirit to homeport in Brisbane
Brisbane is getting its first Carnival ship deployment in 2020.
In a double announcement, Brisbane’s new international cruise terminal has been granted approval and it will be joined by Carnival Spirit, which will homeport year-round.
It will sail cruises to New Caledonia, Vanuatu, and short sailings in North Queensland out of Brisbane.
A full list of itineraries will be announced very soon and reservations will go live next month.
The demand for a Brisbane deployment is there, says Carnival Australia vice president Jennifer Vandekreeke.
She said 75,000 have travelled to Sydney or Melbourne to board ships in the last five years.
"We’re delighted to announce that with the new cruise terminal we’ll be able to offer Queenslanders the opportunity to sail on Carnival right from their doorstep."
