Carnival, Virgin terminals approved at Miami
It is full steam ahead at PortMiami as the world’s busiest cruise port granted a new terminal expansion for Carnival Cruise Line and a first cruise terminal for Virgin Voyages.
Carnival got the green light for a renovation and major expansion of Terminal F which is expected to be completed by 2022.
It is being designed by Berenblum Busch Architects and is Carnival’s third dedicated terminal at PortMiami.
The deal gives PortMiami a commitment from Carnival to homeport ships for the next 20 years, with two additional extension options.
Virgin Voyages will rename Terminal H to Terminal V in a $150 million development which will be home for the line’s first ship Scarlet Lady from next year.
Meanwhile, MSC Cruises also got final approval from the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners for a development that spans two terminals.
This allows MSC to manage two mega cruise liners concurrently. each with a capacity for up to 7,000 guests.
That will allow MSC to handle up to 28,000 passenger movements per day, it said in a statement.
