Carnvial cancels all US cruises till at least February

Monday, 18 Nov, 2020 0

Carnival has cancelled all cruises from its US homeports at least until February as it gets to grips with new health and safety requirements to resume operations next year.

It has also cancelled cruises from Baltimore, Charleston, Jacksonville, Long Beach, Mobile, New Orleans and San Diego until the end of February, and cruises on Carnival Legend from Tampa until 26 March.

The cruise operator said it was in the process of building a phased approach to the resumption of cruises, focusing on Miami and Port Canaveral.

This will be followed by cruises from Galveston.

Carnival Horizon arrives in Miami this week and Carnival Breeze will be the next ship back to the US.

In total, 16 Carnival ships are currently following the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention process for an eventual resumption of guest service in 2021, including Carnival Conquest, Dream, Ecstasy, Elation, Freedom, Glory, Liberty, Miracle, Panorama, Pride, Sensation, Sunrise, Sunshine and Vista.

Mardi Gras, which is under construction in Finland, will also enter service in 2021.

Four other Carnival ships – Magic, Paradise, Valor, and Victory/Radiance will return to operations after maintenance work and upgrades are completed.

Carnival previously cancelled operations in Australia until 2 March.

"We are committed to meeting the CDC requirements and keeping our guests and business partners informed of our progress," said Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line.

"The entire Carnival team appreciates the great support of our guests, travel advisors and business partners, and local officials in our homeports and destinations."
