As part of global expansion plans, Cathay Pacific will boost frequency on its Hong Kong to San Francisco route.
An additional four flights a week will be added, upgrading the route to three times a day frequency.
The extra flights will meet growing customer demand, the airline says and take effect from October 2017.
In a first for its US network, Cathay Pacific will deploy Airbus A350 jets on the route.
"San Francisco is ready for a third daily Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong, and we are delighted to meet this growing customer demand. We are particularly pleased to be able to use this additional service to operate our new, state-of-the-art Airbus A350 aircraft, the first operated by Cathay Pacific in the US" said the airline’s Americas SVP Philippe Lacamp.
"Since launching our first non-stop service from SFO to Hong Kong over 30 years ago, the San Francisco Bay Area has been a key market in our global network and San Francisco is an ideal market to debut our newest aircraft."
The carrier also announced a slight downsizing on its Los Angeles route.
Flights to Los Angeles will be reduced from 28 to 21 per week.
