CDC amends guidelines for masks on cruise ships
The CDC has updated guidance on the wearing of masks on cruise ships.
As long as they are vaccinated, guests can remove masks in outdoor areas that are not crowded.
Unvaccinated passengers must continue to don masks while lounging by the pool and between bites while eating outside.
"Cruise ship operators, at their discretion, may advise passengers and crew that—if they are fully vaccinated—they may gather or conduct activities outdoors, including engaging in extended meal service or beverage consumption, without wearing a mask except in crowded settings," it said.
There were further changes announced regarding shore visits.
Fully vaccinated guests are able to explore on land by themselves during pot calls, rather than only approved excursions.
The CDC cautions that ‘foreign jurisdictions may have their own requirements’ governing what visitors can do on land.
