Fast growing low cost airline Cebu Pacific is looking to increase capacity and is considering new routes to Australia following a successful start to its Manila-Sydney service last autumn.
CEB began flying four times a week to Sydney in September and added a fifth weekly flight just three months later.
The carrier is using its full seat capacity on the route and said it will seek additional traffic rights for Philippine carriers to operate more services to Australia.
CEB is due to talk with aviation regulators in Canberra tomorrow about increasing air capacity between the two countries.
"In the first four months of operations, CEB’s low fares and direct, non-stop services significantly stimulated inbound traffic into the Philippines and Australia," said Cebu’s general manager for long haul, Alex Reyes.
"We look forward to expanding our services and further growing inbound tourism into our countries."
Full service national carrier Philippine Airlines also flies the Sydney route as well as Melbourne and Brisbane via Darwin.
