Chelsea Clinton joins board of Expedia

Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton has been appointed to the Expedia board of directors.

CNN Money revealed the appointment following a public filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Clinton becomes the 14th board member for the travel company, which is based in Bellevue, Washington.

She will earn a $45,000 retainer and more than $250,000 in stock, according to an Expedia proxy statement.

Clinton, 37, also sits on the board of AC/InterActive Corp, which owns several well-known online brands including Investopedia and Dictionary.com

She is also a board member of a number of non-profit companies, including the School of American Ballet and the Health Access Initiative, which is part of the Clinton Foundation, set up by Bill Clinton after he left the White House in 2001.
