Chicago CVB draws $191 million in new business

Thursday, 01 Aug, 2006 0

In just a few months, the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau (CCTB) racked up nine large pieces of business worth about $191 million, according to the CVB.

Reasons included the area’s prime location, its pro-business convention and its attendance-building programs, according to Tim Roby, CCTB president.

“These bookings are a reflection of Chicago’s reputation as a premier convention destination,” he said.

One of the largest of the new shows was the Analytical Chemistry’s PITTCON, relocated from New Orleans. It is expected to attract 23,000 attendees.

In the past two years, Chicago has been a Mecca for medical meetings, with a 39% increase, according to the CVB.
