Child who died on Delta flight named
A child who died on a Delta Air lines flight was identified as a 10-year-old Canadian girl.
Janice Xu of Vancouver died of suspected cardiac arrest on the flight from Los Angeles to Seattle, although the LA coroner’s office is still investigating the cause.
"We haven’t definitively confirmed the cause of death," a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner said, adding the results of an autopsy report are still pending.
The Delta flight was diverted back to LAX a short time after take-off following the medical emergency but the girl never regained consciousness.
The LA fire department said paramedics ‘furiously worked to save her life…but all efforts were futile and the child was beyond medical help.’
Police said they are not treating it as suspicious.
