Chinese tourists injured, driver killed in Thai tourist bus crash
Up to 17 Chinese tourists have been injured in Thailand in a tour bus crash which killed the Thai driver.
A bus carrying 35 Chinese tourists had left a hotel in Krabi heading to a port in Phang Nga when it veered off the road and crashed into a pole.
A preliminary investigation has blamed driver fatigue for the accident.
Nine of the 17 injured were detained in hospital with three suffering severe injuries, including two children.
The injured were visited by Ma Cuihong, China’s vice consul general and the governor of Phuket Province at the weekend
As in previous tour bus accidents involving its citizens, the China National Tourism Administration has urged local authorities to fully investigate the cause and take necessary measures to prevent similar accidents from happening again.
It comes just a few days after a crash on nearby Patong Hill, Phuket when a bus hit other vehicles and slammed into a wall after its breaks failed.
In that incident four Chinese tourists were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
