Cirium: Q3 a record high for UK seat capacity

Cirium: Q3 a record high for UK seat capacity

Wednesday, 06 Nov, 2024 0

The third quarter had the largest number of UK seats available for sale, according to the latest UK flight data from Cirium.

In Q3 2024, the 282,775 scheduled flights departing from UK airports represented more than 51 million seats.

The number of departing seats from the UK during Q3 was the highest level ever recorded, surpassing peak 2019 levels, Cirium says.

It says this is in part due to upgrading routes with larger aircraft, including on domestic UK routes.

The most popular destination from the UK was Dubai, with 10,508 flights and 1.5 million seats

Amsterdam was the second most popular with 9,701 flights and Mallorca, Alicante and Malaga rounded out the top five destinations

The most popular single route was Heathrow to New York’s JFK with 2,019 flights, which equates to over half a million seats

EasyJet operated the most flights during Q3 with 57,527 flights.

British Airways operated the second most with 46,296 flights and Ryanair was the third with 41,099 flights

The third quarter has been the busiest period for flights from the UK so far in 2024

In Q1 there were 208,546 flights operated, while in the second quarter there were 264,158 flights.

In Q4, flight capacity is expected to fall back to 236,002.
