The Durango and Silverton Railroad, is a historic 45-mile scenic rail route, offering an immersive journey through Colorado’s past.

It started life as a dedicated freight line serving the mining industry, before gradually transforming into a popular tourist attraction in the mid-20th century.

Jeffrey Johnson, Vice President and General Manager of the Durango and Silverton Rail Company, and Martha Gowin, Marketing Manager, share the railroad’s rich history, its dedication to preserving vintage equipment, and the passion of staff who bring the experience to life.
