The coronavirus crisis has sunk a Japanese day cruise operator.
Kobe based Luminous Cruising Co has blamed the global outbreak for its bankruptcy.
The cruise operator filed for bankruptcy protection with debts of 1.24 billion yen ($11 million), according to credit research firm Teikoku Databank.
The company operated the Luminous Kobe 2 ship, which is one of the country’s largest dinner cruise ships with a capacity of about 1,000.
It offered pleasure and dinner cruises around Kobe port.
It had suffered mass cancellations since January as the virus took hold across Asia and was hurt with restrictions placed on mass gatherings imposed by the Japanese government in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.
