HONG KONG – Costa Cruises’ newest ship, Costa Deliziosa, will become the first ship in cruising history to be named in Dubai.

Costa Deliziosa, a 92,600 gross-tonnage ship with a capacity of 2,826 passengers, will be named on February 23.

Costa Deliziosa will offer 7-day cruises in the Arabian Gulf from March to May this year.

This itinerary will include two nights in Dubai and one-day calls to the ports of Muscat; Fujairah; Abu Dhabi and Bahrain.

Dario Rustico, sales and marketing director, Pacific Asia operations of Costa Cruises, said, “The placement of three ships in Dubai in the winter of 2009/2010 has increased guest capacity by 40 percent, and bookings are in line with the increase.”

Costa is deploying sister ships Costa Luminosa and Costa Deliziosa in the same area.

During the winter 2009/2010 season, Costa Cruises’ ships are expected to bring 140,000 passengers to Dubai on three ships, Costa Luminosa, Costa Deliziosa and Costa Europa, for a total of 32 calls.
