An argument over checking in baggage at a Florida airport descended into a violent scuffle resulting in the arrest of two travelers.
Police said 67-year-old Ida Shafir and 61-year-old Nick Bogomolsky were arrested and charged with resisting an officer with violence and trespassing at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
When told they had to check in a bag due to full overhead bins, they refused and soon became argumentative, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said.
After refusing to leave the desk, police were called and a scuffle quickly ensued.
Two deputies were slightly injured and received medical attention.
Shafir was accused of biting a deputy while police said Bogomolsky tried to grab another deputy’s gun from his holster.
The flight was delayed due to the incident.
A Delta Air Lines spokesperson said the airline is working with law enforcement and cooperating with the investigation.
