Courts stop airport expansion at Brazil’s main airport
Expansion work at Brazil’s international airport in Sao Paulo has been called to a halt by a federal court.
The judge said the state airport authority did not follow the proper bidding process when awarding the contract for a new terminal at Guarulhos airport.
The terminal was designed to double the airport’s capacity in time for the 2014 football World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games.
The airport authority plans to appeal against the decision, according to reports.
