Cruise industry mourns loss of ‘true gentleman’
The cruise industry is mourning the death of Ian Hopley, a former board member of the Leading Cruise Agents of the UK.
He was also the founder and, from 1972 to 2013, a director of Travelux of Tenderden, an independent travel agency and tour operator specialising in cruising.
LCA board directors issued a statement this morning. It said: "It is with deep sadness that we confirm the death, following a lengthy illness, of our friend and ex-colleague Ian Hopley.
"Ian was for many years a staunch supporter and active board member of the Leading Cruise Agents of the UK (GPCA Limited), and a much valued colleague who, along with his partner Rachel Vlach, made a major contribution to our group.
"We remember Ian as one of travel’s true gentlemen, whose calm and thoughtful advice – and personal sincerity – could always be relied upon.
"He will be very much missed, and our thoughts are with Rachel and Ian’s family at this very sad time."
