Cruise industry organises charity bike ride to raise money for FHA
Cyclists from across the cruise sector will take part in a charity bike ride to raise money for the Family Holiday Assocation in September.
Starting their ride in Petersfield, the cyclists will ride either a 50 mile or 100-mile loop, heading to the south coast and back.
Previous fundraising efforts by CLIA and cruise line members has meant that hundreds of families have been able to take a short break from home, said CLIA.
Taking part in the charity bike ride will be:
* Ian Gilder, Adore Holidays and Cruises
* Giles Hawke, Avalon Waterways
* Richard Singer, icelolly.com
* Dave Mills, Iglu.com
* Bernie Carter, Oceania Cruises
* Tony Roberts, Princess Cruises
* Karen Farndell, Princess Cruises
* Stuart Leven, Royal Caribbean
* Torey Kings-Hodkin, Royal Caribbean
* Edward Lang, Regent Seven Seas Cruises
* Graham Sadler, Regent Seven Seas Cruises
* Robbie White, Touchdown
Giles said: "We believe that now is the right time to hold this fundraising event, as although we’re all struggling with our own business challenges and pressure on finances, there are many people in much more challenging situations and which the current climate will be making worse.
"Any funds we raise will help Family Holiday Association provide families with a well-deserved break, which can truly make all the difference to the quality of life for people living with real hardship. We understand that money may be tight at the moment and there may be some uncertainty, but any contribution no matter how big or small will be hugely appreciated by the Family Holiday Association and the families they help."
