Cruise passengers rescued after tour boat sinks off Cozumel
A group of cruise ship passengers had a lucky escape after their tour boat sank off the coast of Cozumel.
The 10 passengers had just departed Cozumel on a diving excursion when the boat began taking in water.
It quickly began to sink forcing all into the water.
All were rescued and no injuries were reported, as the Mexican Navy and other vessels were quickly on the scene to help.
Royal Caribbean Cruises spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez said the 10 passengers on the dive trip were sailing with the Celebrity Equinox and Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas.
It is unclear what caused the boat to sink.
It comes less than a month after a deadly bus crash in the same area killed a dozen cruise passengers from two other Royal Caribbean and Celebrity cruise ships.
It included eight Americans.
