Cruises diverted following gunpoint robbery on St Kitts
Two cruise lines have diverted their itineraries to avoid St Kitts after a bus full of cruise passengers was robbed at gunpoint.
Two masked gunmen held up 17 passengers on Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Mercury who were on a bus tour of the island.
Nobody was hurt in the incident but the robbers made off with cash, cameras and jewelery.
According to reports on news Caribbean 360 today, Carnival Cruises has changed the course of Carnival Miracle to avoid St. Kitts and head straight to Antigua as precautionary measure.
Princess Cruises has made a similar detour for Grand Princess.
Celebrity has not yet cancelled any cruises but says it is closely monitoring the situation.
