New York City is getting even hotter as a port of embarkation.

Princess Cruises says its new 116,000-ton Crown Princess will start its inaugural season in New York from June through October. The 9-night sailings will be Princess’s first-ever round-trip New York Caribbean offerings, visiting Bermuda, San Juan, Grand Turk and other areas.

The New York boom started in 2003 when Norwegian Cruise Line decided to base its Norwegian Dawn there year-round. Since that time Carnival and Holland America have started offering round-trip Caribbean and Bahamas sailings.

The Crown Princess will have various amenities, including offering feature films on a giant outdoor screen. New attractions include more dining venues with an international café and a wine and seafood bar.
