Crystal Cruises latest to impose fuel surcharge

Tuesday, 18 Jun, 2008 0

Crystal Cruises is implementing a fuel surcharge of £6.25 per guest per day for all new bookings made on or after June 23.

The two-ship ultra luxury line blamed  “unprecedented increases in oil prices”.

UK sales and marketing director Sophie Higgins said: “We regret any increased charges to our guests, but the fuel costs are escalating far beyond expectations.  Unfortunately, even this amount will not fully cover the increased costs we are absorbing.”

Crystal Cruises set 2009 cruise fares in late 2007 and has not initiated any increased cruise fares since the initial launch.

Other cruise lines have imposed fuel surcharges due to rising oil costs, with Fred. Olsen being among the latest.
