Crystal introduces cell phone service
Crystal Cruises this month is launching its cell phone service that will also feature “quiet zones” aboard Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity.
“Today’s luxury travelers want to stay in touch and they want it convenient, but they don’t want to be disturbed,” said Thomas Maxloum, senior vice president of hotel operations.
“Quiet Zone” technology enables the new cell service to have areas that are cell-phone free such as theatres and dining rooms.
In conjunction with the new service, Crystal has simplified its internet pricing plan with new packages, the company announced. Wi-Fi laptop access is also available at the same rates as the desktops in Crystal’s Computer University Seat. Rental laptops are also available on board.
The new service is available through SeaMobile. Guests will be billed through their own cell phone providers. Other available wireless services include text messaging and use of PDAs such as a Blackberry.
