To mark the official resumption of diplomatic ties as the US and Cuba reopen their respective embassies, Airbnb is offering free stays for all guests in Cuba this week.
The home sharing site took to Twitter to announce the surprise: "To our guests who booked trips to #Cuba this week, good news: We’re celebrating the embassy re-opening and your stay is on us!"
The company will cover all accommodation costs of guests staying in the island nation this week.
Airbnb currently has about 2,000 Cuba homes listed on its website.
A general travel embargo is still in place meaning Airbnb will only pick up the tab for people already permitted to travel to Cuba under one of the 12 pre-approved categories such as family visits education programs and religious activities.
The offer is valid for stays up to Sunday July 26.
