Curacao luxury property has heavy agent bookings
Almost two thirds of bookings at the Hotel Kura Hulanda in Willemstad, the capital city of Cuarcao, is through travel agents, says Judy De Leon, director of sales.
“When agents book a standard room, we get them an automatic upgrade,” she told TravelMole.
The 65 buildings that make up Hotel Kura Hulanda include the Museum Kura Huland’s largest exhibit – a UNESCO World Heritage site that is also a collection of 18th and 19th century buildings.
The hotel itself is an 80-luxury unit facility that is not always noticed, or at least not by first-time visitors.
“Most of our visitors are well traveled. I don’t think any of them are first-timers here,” she said.
It’s been only in recent years that the Dutch-owned Caribbean island has acquired first-class luxury hotels.
The Hotel Kura Hulanda is a member of the Leading Small Hotels of the World.
Among its attractions are a large Ostrich farm and what is believed to be the oldest Synagogue in the Western Hemisphere.
The city of Willemstad sitting atop St. Anna Bay is known for its large variety of beaches – 45 of them.
The hotel itself announced a $75 per room rate in September for travel agents to celebrate Curacao’s Travel Agent Month.
