Dandenong to join Chifley network in 2008

Thursday, 11 Dec, 2007 0

Constellation Hotel Group today unveiled plans to develop a new Chifley property in Doveton, gateway to the Greater Dandenong region, one of Victoria’s fastest growing commercial districts.

Chifley Dandenong will be located at the intersection of the Monash Freeway and Princess Highway, 35 km from Melbourne and just three km from Dandenong, which the Victorian Government is now developing as the central business district for Melbourne’s South East region.

When it opens in late 2008, the 128-room property will offer corporate travellers the opportunity to bypass the Melbourne CBD while enjoying the same state-of-the-art communication technologies and stylish rooms and meeting spaces expected of inner-city hotels.

Chifley Dandenong will also serve surrounding businesses by offering accessible public spaces – such as bars, restaurant and cafe, and two conference rooms each with a capacity for up to 140 delegates theatre style.

The hotel, which Constellation will manage under a 10 year agreement, is one of five new Chifley properties due to open next year.

The first new addition to the network will be launched in March in Sydney’s Potts Point, marking the brand’s arrival in Australia’s largest city. Just one month later, Constellation will reveal Chifley Eastern Creek, a new development set on 1.1 hectares at Eastern Creek Raceway in Sydney’s west.

The company is also developing new Chifleys in Townsville and Newcastle, each offering more than 80 stylish apartments.

Group General Manager Jonathan Wooller said the ongoing expansion of the Chifley brand would continue a remarkable period of expansion for Australian-owned and operated Constellation.

“Over the past 12 months we have more than doubled our total network, acquired the Sundowner brand and introduced our iconic Country Comfort chain across the Tasman,” Wooller said.

“Our strategic expansion of the Chifley network will help ensure we maintain our momentum in 2008.”
