Debut of Carnival ship Mardi Gras delayed again
Carnival Cruise Line has again pushed back delivery of its newest ship Mardi Gras.
Mardi Gras will now begin sailing from February 6, 2021 at Port Canaveral.
It was originally due to debut in August 2020, and had already been pushed back once.
The 5,000 guest ship will be the first LNG powered vessel to sail in the region.
It will also have the first roller coaster at sea.
"While we had hoped to make up construction time on Mardi Gras over the summer, it’s clear we will need extra time to complete. We share our guests’ disappointment and appreciate their patience," said Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy.
Additionally, the line said the $200 million transformation of Carnival Radiance is delayed indefinitely but will likely be completed by next spring.
It is currently ‘evaluating shipyard options to complete the transformation.’
The transformation is a full revamp of the Carnival Victory which will be renamed to Radiance.
