A heated dispute between two ‘unprofessional’ flight crew members on a Delta flight caused a two-hour delay to a departing flight at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, with one being accused of racism.
The 54-year-old male pilot and a 26-year-old female flight attendant were hauled off the plane by Port Authority police officers, some carrying ‘huge’ guns, and held back for questioning.
That caused a delay of about two hours to the Portland, Maine bound flight.
It is unclear how the dispute started but both accused each other of aggressively grabbing the other’s arm.
One onlooker accused the pilot of ‘racist, inconsiderate and unprofessional’ behaviour, according to the New York Daily News.
No injuries were reported and neither was arrested.
Delta was quick to point out the Delta Connection flight was operated by regional partner Endeavor Air.
Endeavor Air released a statement apologizing to customers ‘inconvenienced as a result of a disagreement between two crew members.’
"The actions of these crew members, as described in no way reflects the respect, values and professionalism we expect from our employees."
