Delta is sharing the love with its employees this Valentine’s Day.
The carrier announced it will pay out more than $1 billion in profit sharing to employees in recognition of ‘history-making’ operational performance.
It is the third year in a row the airline will pay out a billion-dollar amount for its 80,000 employees.
The $1.1 billion payout is just reward for ‘their role in delivering record-breaking operational, financial and customer satisfaction performance,’ Delta said.
"No other company and certainly no other airline has ever shared $1 billion in profits with its employees. We are so proud and excited to celebrate on February 14 with all Delta people worldwide, who serve our customers and run the most reliable airline operation in the world," said CEO Ed Bastian.
The airline took out ads in US newspapers today including The New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution to give thanks to its workforce, and various events to honor workers will be held across its global network.
Following talks with President Trump last week, Bastion said Delta plans to go on a hiring spree with as many as 25,000 new employees in the coming years.
