Delta handheld devices to allow onboard couponing

Wednesday, 28 Aug, 2013 0

For now, new handheld devices will speed up on-board purchasing on Delta Air Lines. But "in the near future" they will allow flight attendants to identify the carrier’s best customers and read coupons on customers’ phones "to enable more personalized service."

The devices are now in the hands of 19,000 flight attendants, Delta announced.

The phones, which work over onboard Wi-Fi, provide near real-time credit-card processing of purchases and produce eReceipts that are emailed to customers.

Delta plans to "expand the solution over the next three years to the newest Nokia devices," it said.
