Delta launch new UK routes
Delta Airline has unveiled 11 new routes to Europe – including Atlanta to Edinburgh and New York to Manchester – as it begins to rebuild the business under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
The service to Scotland will be launched on May 4 with the Manchester route taking off on May 15.
Other new routes include New York to Dublin and Shannon and services into Venice, Nice and Budapest. The expansion, the biggest increase in its history, will make the Delta the world’s largest transatlantic airline.
Delta chief executive Gerald Grinstein said: “The increase in international flying is an integral part of our customer-focused transformation plan.”
Management believe the focus on international routes will help Delta return to profitability by the end of 2007. It anticipates international services will provide 35% of its revenues, up from the current 20%.
