Delta launching LA-Melbourne flights

A third airline is entering the Melbourne-Los Angeles transpacific market.
Delta Air Lines will launch nonstop Melbourne flights from LA on Airbus A350 jets starting in early December 2025.
It adds competition to current providers Qantas and United Airlines.
Delta initially launches Melbourne flights with three times per week service.
The airline already flies to Sydney and seasonally to Brisbane from LA, which launched last month.
“This is a win for the whole state – for tourism operators, businesses, hotels and restaurants, and for families and travellers,” Tourism, Sport and Major Events Minister Steve Dimopoulos said.
“These new Delta flights will bring thousands more tourists from North America to Victoria.”
“These new flights will also make it more affordable for families who have America on their bucket list.”
“North America is an incredibly important inbound market for us, and we’re proud to be partnering with Visit Victoria to help restore capacity on the Los Angeles route,” Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus said.
Delta’s flights from LAX will depart on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with the return journey every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Congratulations Delta on coming to Melbourne. 1. I would much prefer an earlier start of say July 2. Delta will rapidly gain market share from both Americans & Australians. A relative lives in South Carolina & visits Melbourne (Australia) a few times each year. Delta provides excellent connection via Atlanta & LAX; This is unfortunately marred by the hopeless connection at Sydney. 3. Delta's write up on Melbourne is hopelessly out of date - Melbourne is now Australia.s biggest city with population now 5 million 300 + whereas Sydney has now only 5 million, 100 thousand!
