Delta offering free in-flight mobile messaging

Saturday, 28 Sep, 2017 0

Delta Air Lines says it will allow passengers to use in-flight mobile messaging without being stung for Wi-Fi charges.

Free messaging service via iMessage, Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp begins this Sunday for all passengers aboard Wi-Fi enabled flights.

However customers will have to limit themselves to words and emojis as the free service doesn’t cover the attaching and sending of images or videos.

"We know many of Delta’s customers want or need to stay connected in the air and on the ground, which is why we’re investing in an easy, free way to send and receive messages inflight through some of the most popular global platforms,"  said Delta’s chief marketing officer Tim Mapes.

Maples said Delta is the first among the major carriers to offer free mobile messaging.

Travelers can access the feature via Delta’s Wi-Fi portal page.
